I can’t get the electrodes to go all green.
Problems getting your electrode signal to turn all green are because the EEG sensors aren’t in good contact with your skin. Follow these tips to get the best results:
- Make sure the side EEG sensors are touching the skin behind your ears.
- Move any hair out of the way from the forehead and side EEG sensors. This is particularly important for the side EEG sensors.
- Remove all makeup from your face and forehead.
- Do not use any leave-on skin treatments or creams in or around the areas where the headband is in contact with your skin.
- Scrub your face and skin behind your ears with a damp washcloth.
- After you scrub with a damp washcloth, leave your skin slightly damp.
- Make sure your headband is tight enough to keep the forehead sensors in good contact with your skin. Be careful not to overtighten the headband. It has to be just tight enough to stay in place on your forehead, but loose enough to be comfortable.
- Try small repositioning adjustments - moving it slightly higher or lower on your forehead, for example.
In our internal testing, we’ve found this last tip (leaving the headband one for at least 5 minutes) allows the EEG sensors time to equilibrate with your skin and usually resolves most of the signal quality problems.
